Airbus A321neo
About the Airbus A321neo
From summer 2024 we’ve started replacing our Boeing 737 fleet with the Airbus A321neo from the Airbus A320neo Family. According to the current schedule, our fleet will have around 13 Airbus A321neos by the end of 2025. The slightly smaller Airbus A320neo will also join the KLM fleet, alongside the A321neo. These more fuel-efficient and quieter aircraft will contribute to KLM's sustainability goals and offer KLM passengers even more comfort and convenience. The first A321neo will fly to Copenhagen, Berlin and Stockholm. The second will fly to Paris, Prague and Vienna during weekends.
Aircraft names
"Neo" stands for "new engine option", meaning that this aircraft type operates with a different kind of engine than the previous Airbus A321 and A320s. These engines help to ensure that the "neos" emit less CO2 than their predecessors. The names of the first four A321neo aircraft will be Swallowtail, Peach Blossom, Common Brimstone, and Clouded Magpie. The ‘butterflies’ theme was chosen by our employees and ties in nicely with the transformation we’re embarking on with the new fleet.
